Masquerade Art Residency

Masquerade struck a chord, so we carried it to Chennai — this time with musicians in the room. Much of the two days ran on sound: artists sang and played while the camera circled them, and one session had us coaxing music from whatever we could find. We sketched each other, wrote poems from words we handed around, and shot in long stretches of light and shadow, masks on or off as each person pleased. The forfeit for a missed word in the poetry game: sing a song in a saree.
